Chevrolet C6 Corvette Rally Stripe Graphic Kit 3 Installation Notes

While our precut kits appear to be "simple" to install, application techniques used in certain areas of the kit prove to make the project go smoother. Please review the notes below that we've compiled to assist in the installation.
By all means, if you do not feel comfortable with the thought of installing the stripes yourself, we suggest contacting a local graphics installer and/or automotive body shop in your area to assist.
In the event a new piece is required, simply let us know the part number (ATD-CHVCRVTGRPH27) proceeded by the letter designation of the piece required (i.e., ATD-CHVCRVTGRPH27-c). Costs for individual pieces are as per the Parts List shown below.

1)  Please review the general Custom Graphics Installation Instructions to become familiar with the preparation of the finished surfaces and methods of installation.
2)  Cut the graphics apart from the kit sheet. Carefully cut each piece so that approximately 1/8" (.64cm) of the excess backing and application paper is exposed. Take note to keep all of pieces C & D together.
3)  The stripe kit is to be installed at the center of the vehicle. Thus, mark with a grease pencil, fine line tape or other temporary marking device the exact center of the vehicle at the edges of the areas of installation. You will use these marks to place your stripes.
Once the center marks are set on the vehicle simply place a pencil mark on each end of the graphic pieces at the exact center.
4)  Stripe pieces A, E, F, G & H are pretty straight-forward as far as installation goes. All the pieces are cut to have an approximate .0625"-.125" (1.5875mm-3.175mm) margin at each end. So, simply center the stripes in the area and install. We usually install from the center of the stripe and work to each end with the squeegee. This is done by simply peeling approximately 2-4" (5.08cm-10.16cm) of the backing paper from the center, folding each side of the backing paper slightly, and "hinging" the graphic from the center.
5)  Stripe pieces B, C, & D are the most difficult to install (if you don't know what you are doing). Due to the fact the areas of installation have compound curve surfaces, creases may occur if you start the stripe out in certain areas. Please note the following tips:
Stripe piece B:
This piece may require two (2) people. Starting at the suggested "hinge" point as shown in the image, work the piece forward to the front, squeegeeing firmly. Once the front is set, work the rear of the piece by squeegeeing in a firm sweeping motion. Having an assistant will ensure that the rear of the graphic is centered and taught as you are squeegeeing from side to side and back.
Concentrate on the wide, center portion of the graphic. You can come back and squeegee the side "wings" after the center is down. In fact, you may find it helpful to reset the "wing" sides by carefully slicing the application paper in the center void and "snapping" the "wing" sides up to reset.

Stripe pieces C & D:

The center depression in the roof makes this the most difficult piece of the kit. Keeping all the pieces of C & D together will ensure correct alignment of the entire roof graphic.
Again, this installation will require two (2) people. Hinging the entire piece combination from the rear, work the graphic forward with a side-to-side sweeping motion. Keeping firm squeegee pressure, start to squeegee forward into the depression as you get about half-way in the installation.
Keep in mind that as these pieces are installed, they can be "snapped" up so as to reset in the event you start to get a crease in the piece. Take care NOT to pull the graphic up. Vinyl graphics need a firm, quick "snap" so that they do not stretch. Once snapped up, proceed to squeegee again.
Just as with the Hood piece, you may find it helpful to reset the "wing" sides by carefully slicing the application paper in the center void and "snapping" the "wing" sides up to reset.

Large to medium air bubbles should be carefully punctured with a pin and worked flat. Small air bubbles may also be removed in such a way, however most small bubbles will disappear with a good week of setting in the sun.

In the event a new piece is required, don't fret. While it's frustrating that a little piece of vinyl can give us so much grief, just remember that the worst case scenario is the you just have to purchase another one - it's certainly not the end of the world. We suggest swearing a bit and moving on.
