Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rally Stripe Graphics Kit Installation Notes

 

While our precut kits appear to be "simple" to install, application techniques used in certain areas of the kit prove to make the project go smoother. Please review the notes below that we've compiled to assist in the installation.
By all means, if you do not feel comfortable with the thought of installing the stripes yourself, we suggest contacting a local graphics installer and/or automotive body shop in your area to assist.
In the event a new piece is required, simply let us know the part number (ATD-CHVMNTEGRPH1) proceeded by the letter designation of the piece required (i.e., ATD-CHVMNTEGRPH1h). We'll make arrangements to send the piece required upon receipt of payment.

 
1)  Please review the general Custom Graphics Installation Instructions to become familiar with the preparation of the finished surfaces and methods of installation.
2)  Cut the graphics apart from the kit sheet. Carefully cut each piece so that approximately 1/8" (.64cm) of the excess backing and application paper is exposed.
3)  The stripe kit is set for 5.75" (14.61cm) or 4" (26.67cm) spacing at the center of the vehicle (Please review the Product Parts List associated with the kit you ordered for correct spacing). Thus, mark with a grease pencil, fine line tape or other temporary marking device a 5.75" (14.61cm) or 4" (26.67cm) strip down the center of the vehicle. You will use these marks to place your stripes.
4)  Stripes A, B, C, D, E, F, K and L are pretty straight-forward as far as installation goes. All the stripes have an approximate .0625"-.25" (1.575mm-6.35mm) margin at each end. So, simply center the stripes in the area and install. We usually install from the center of the stripe and work to each end with the squeegee. This is done by simply peeling approximately 2-4" (5.08cm-10.16cm) of the backing paper from the center, folding each side of the backing paper slightly, and "hinging" the graphic from the center.
While the kit is precut and ready to install with no trimming required, Monte Carlos with sunroof option will have to be trimmed at the sunroof opening. This can simply be done by trimming the stripe at the sunroof opening edge after the installation of the stripe. Squeegeeing the stripe onto the glass portion of the sunroof is not required. Take care to squeegee only the painted areas of the roof. This will allow for easy removal of the stripe from the sunroof area once trimmed.
5)  Stripe pieces G, H, I & J require splicing due to the irregular shape of the spoiler. We suggest the installation of pieces I & J first. This will allow pieces G & H to overlap the rear spoiler pieces approximately .0625" (1.575mm).
When installing pieces I & J, start installation from the bottom edge of the spoiler and work the pieces up just short of the spoiler edge. After these pieces are installed begin installation of pieces G & H at the front edge of the spoiler and work them back. When you get to the top edge, work the pieces over the edge carefully and proceed down the backside of the spoiler. As noted before, pieces G & H should overlap pieces I & J approximately .0625" (1.575mm).
6)  Optional Monte Carlo or Supercharged badging is included with the kit for free. Feel free to place the badging as desired in the area as shown in the illustration. Also provided in the kit is "SS" decals. This will allow various combinations of badging opportunities such as "Monte Carlo", "Monte Carlo SS", "Supercharged" and "Supercharged SS", to name a few. Play around with various combinations and make the vehicle "your own".
In the event a new piece is required, don't fret. While it's frustrating that a little piece of vinyl can give us so much grief, just remember that the worst case scenario is the you just have to purchase another one - it's certainly not the end of the world. We suggest swearing a bit and moving on.
